For Merlin Entertainments, Kraftwerk Living Technologies designed and installed the Blackpool 4D attraction.
The theater has a tiered railing system that can accommodate 120 people. Visitors stand on a vibrating platform, for which a steel floor plate and low frequency transducers with a vinyl finish were installed. The 4D effects include ground fog, snow, rain, wind, bubbles, air blast, and three different scents – some of which are installed in the SFX railings. On the basis of a script with frame accurate indicators for the 4D effects, the programming of the effects took place on-site. LED banks are sequenced with the film to enhance firework effects.
The stereo 3D film itself, produced by Sharp Cookies, is designed to merge with the archways that surround the audience at a certain time. As the location is unique with two exposed steel arches in the room, projection was a challenge. Using a 3D model of the site, Kraftwerk Living Technologies specifically selected the projectors and lenses that were suitable for this type of environment.
A customized Meyer Sound audio system and a perfectly matched lighting system complete another tailor-made, high-quality 4D attraction made by Kraftwerk Living Technologies. The entire system is directed by a Kraftwerk Living Technologies show control system located in three racks.
