2024 | Rust (DE)The Electrifying Adventure of Bringing Voltron Nevera to Life
In addition to the numerous projects already realized through the collaboration between Europa-Park and KLT, the spectacular Voltron Nevera powered by Rimac coaster has been part of the lineup since April 2024.
When Europa-Park set out to create Voltron Nevera powered by Rimac, they weren’t just designing another roller coaster. They envisioned something groundbreaking – an attraction that went beyond steel and speed. It would not only thrill with its record-breaking inversions and launches, but also fully immerse visitors in the electrifying world of Nikola Tesla. The challenge was to blend high-speed coaster engineering with a deeply immersive narrative, while seamlessly integrating cutting-edge media technology that made guests feel as though they had stepped into Tesla’s electrified vision of the future.
Nestled in the new Croatian-themed area, designed and built by MACK One, Voltron Nevera spans 1,385 meters in length and delivers a breathtaking experience for adrenaline junkies. Towering at 32.5 meters with a top speed of 100 km/h, the coaster pushes limits with seven inversions, four launches, 2.2 seconds of weightlessness, and the world’s steepest launch at an astonishing 105-degree angle.
KLT worked alongside Europa-Park and MACK One from the early stages, contributing its expertise to integrate state-of-the-art media technology. Responsible for the entire media technology, KLT managed the procurement, installation, and programming of the audio, video, lighting, and show technology that enhanced nearly all of the approximately 20 scenes within the attraction. Here’s a taste of the most electrifying elements:
- A queue charged with real electricity – Tesla coils crackle with lightning, synchronized with specially composed sounds that change pitch with every discharge, building anticipation. Striking lighting and sound effects set the tone before the ride even begins.
- A launch like no other – As riders prepare for the 105-degree ascent, high-tech LED lighting and precision-mapped projections create a 15-second crescendo of tension before the gondolas, each seating 16 people, are catapulted into action.
- A Tesla encounter that changes with every ride – Inside the Faraday cage scene, an animatronic Nikola Tesla comes to life, delivering a performance that varies with each ride. The combination of transparent LED screens, lighting, and sound effects ensures that no two experiences are the same.
- The story extends beyond the ride – The immersive experience doesn’t stop when the ride ends. Even outside the attraction, visitors are drawn into Tesla’s world. The ice cream parlor across from the coaster features an hourly animatronic show, seamlessly integrated into the Tesla-themed environment.
Thanks to the combined efforts, every moment – from the queue to the final brake run – is a masterclass in theme park innovation, which was even recognized with a prestigious THEA Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2025, solidifying Voltron Nevera as a groundbreaking coaster attraction in the world of immersive entertainment.
